Guinness Record For A Diamond Ring!

7,801 – That’s the number of diamonds a jeweller from Hyderabad was able to set on a single ring to set a Guinness World Record for a ring with the most diamonds. The Diamond Store, a Hyderabad based store owned by Kotti Srikanth was the recipient of this award. With this record, the jewellers beat the previous Guinness record set by another Indian jeweller, Lakshikaa Jewels for their Lotus Temple Ring with 7,777 diamonds. The record-breaking diamond ring takes inspiration from the Brahma Kamal and was consequently named, The Divine – 7801 Brahma Vajra Kamalam.

The Inspiration

Like the gold jewellery design it inspired, the Brahma Kamal is a unique flower. The flower is native to the Himalayas and typically found at an altitude of around 4500m above sea level. It’s the state flower of Uttarakhand. The flower has particular religious and cultural significance. In Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma is depicted seated on a blooming lotus and holding another in his hand.

Some also believe that Lord Brahma was born from a large white lotus called the Brahma Kamal. In India, garlands or individual flowers are an integral part of prayer offerings. This was the primary reason for the designer’s choice of gold jewellery design inspiration.

The second was the aesthetics of these flowers. The layered petal design offered designers the most scope for fusing traditional and contemporary Indian jewellery styles.

The Design Process

A diamond ring with 7,801 diamonds isn’t designed in a day.  The jeweller’s team started working on this design way back in 2018. It took 11 months to finalize a design and ascertain the number of diamonds; it would take to ornament this ring.

The design process for creating such jewellery styles is typically a combination of hand-drawn sketches and computer-aided design (CAD). The hand-drawn sketches set the tone for the aesthetics of the gold jewellery while the CAD element helped calculate the number of diamonds needed. The placement of every diamond and its sizing needed to be perfect.

The ring features 6 layers of petals studded with sparkling diamonds on the front and back. The first 5 layers feature 8 petals each while the sixth layer has 6 petals with three filaments in the center. The band itself is also studded with diamonds.

Picking The Perfect Diamonds

Apart from the unique jewellery styles and the number of diamonds used on this particular piece of Indian gold jewellery, another reason the ring is special is that all the diamonds used are natural and ethically sourced. This means that each of the diamonds can be traced back to its source. This high value on ethics is one of the factors responsible for the Diamond Store’s reputation.

Making This Ring Your Own

This is no ordinary ring that you can buy from an online gold jewellery design finder. It’s one of a kind and there’s no other ring like it. The jewellers are setting up an auction for the piece of Indian jewellery.

The Lotus Temple Ring that had earlier held the record for most diamonds set in a single ring was valued in 2019 at $4.9 million. The Divine – 7801 Brahma Vajra Kamalam is sure to command a much higher price.

If you’re not lucky enough to win this auction, you could consider other floral ring designs from the Finaura gold jewellery design finder like the Olexa Diamond Ring or the Kaiya Laya Diamond Ring. While these gold jewellery pieces may have fewer diamonds, they’re just as stunning.
